thump-thump-thump!!!

We have a heartbeat!! I am so relieved and excited. I can't believe me BP wasn't through the roof beforehand, but it was actually pretty normal. As soon as the tech started the u/s, we both immediately saw the heartbeat flickering away! Such a wonderful sight. I can't wait to HEAR it. I told Chris we MUST get a doppler this time, for my sanity and, therefore, his.
I explained my continued fear to my OB, since Baby B was fine at 8 weeks and gone at 11, and he immediately said that at my next appt (I'll be 11w4d) he'll sneak me in for an u/s to check things out and put me at ease. No charge or anything. Yay!!!!! I *heart* him.
Anyway, that's the news for now! Andrew sees the u/s pic and says "baby!" every time. SO STINKIN' CUTE. For now, we all breathe easier and enjoy life.

P.S. I am trying to add the u/s pic to this pose, but Blogger is being stupid, so I will try again later.

gag-puke-moan (and repeat to infinity)

Yup. The title of this post is pretty much how its going right now. The Prometrium is making me soooooooo sick. Seriously. I had to pretty much hold back the vomit until I could get to the bathroom between classes today. Thank God the first trimester is during this wonderful holiday season, so we get lots of time off from school. I could not do this nonstop. next week we have the whole week off for Thanksgiving, so we are going to go to my family's home in Nashville, TN. I am excited to see them, but anxious about my nausea making me carsick. Fortunately, we have a car DVD player so that will be a good distraction for Andrew in the event we have to pull over.

Speaking of Andrew, he can SO tell something is going on. He is super-clingy these days and acts as if he wants to crawl back in the womb. He said his first sentence: I want my momma! So sweet. When I am home and throwing up, he runs into the bathroom and flushes the toilet for me. My little helper. I was so afraid he would be freaked out by the vomit, but - in true little boy fasion - he is fascinated and only wants to help clean up. Hehe.

My first ultrasound is Friday afternoon. Praying with every breath that there's a little living, healthy little one in there. (I had better not be doing all this vomiting for nothing!) For now, I cherish every moment he/she is with me and pray for the best. I will post an u/s update ASAP but we won't be home until late on Friday...The appt is at 1:30 pm and then we are going to Atlanta to watch a Hawks (NBA) game. (We got free tickets.)

For now, though, its gag-puke-moan and repeat.

betas, baby!

So I finally heard back from the doctor! My beta at 15DPO was 129. At 18DPO, it was 900!! That's a doubling rate of 1.07 days according to the beta calculator I found here. I've been getting super-dark HPT's, too, which is very encouraging after so many lighter tests. Whew. Believe me, I know I am not out of the woods, but I am feeling more optimistic every day. :)

As far as symptoms go, the Prometrium (200 mg 2x/day) has intensified any symptoms I normally would have had, so I am suffering from major dizziness, nausea, and fatigue, plus all the stretching and pulling pains...I am SO bloated that I already look 5 months pregnant, but it is so, so worth it. I look at Andrew and I'm convinced that I would put up with SO much more than all this just to have the chance to have another child and give him a sibling!
